The Best All in One HP LaserJet Printer Yet!!!
This is an awesome printer! For so many reasons.1.) It's an all in one or better yet, a 4 in one (print, copy, scan, fax). Many of the newer printers haven't included fax recently.2.) It's compact - shorter than the HP 2840 which is a huge monstrosity. The toner cartridges are secured horizontally (front to back) rather than vertically (top to bottom). This saves a lot of room.3.) It's simple and the most user friendly printer I've ever purchased from HP. It's Vista operative and the software that comes with it is more of a help than a hindrance. The organization of the buttons and functions on the front panel makes sense. The color LCD screen is also easy to navigate. You won't feel like every navigating decision will be binding like some display screens. HP combined modern technology, simplicity, and the traditional needs of an all in one to arrive at their best printer yet.4.) It's affordable too in comparison to the HP 2840...

Don't overexpect, and you'll get what you hoped for
This is NOT in the same class as the much more expensive 3500 series color MFPs, and it is not supposed to be. At a cost of 1/5th the bigger printers, you need to lower your expectations, but you still get a lot of printer for the money. I've had many inkjet printers and installed many color and BW laser printers. The first laser printer I used was an Apple LaserWriter in about 1987, so my experience with these devices is quite extensive. Great Business Printer for Top Class, Color Printing.
This is truly a wonderful product for a small to mid-sized business. It is quick, and prints beautiful pamphlets, newsletters, etc. in color. I cannot tell the difference between these prints and prints from a professional print shop... It also does card stock which lower end printers will not do well. It is a good sized printer and is heavy, but does a great job for in house printing. The cost per page on black and white is about 2.5 cents a page and in color it is about 14 cents a page which is much better than other lower end products. If you print more than 2,500 color pages a month, you'll save the costs of a lower end, $400 printer in less than 4 months. It does double sided printing well too.

Nice...but...
Ok, for the price, this can't be beat for a small office. However, some caveats. First, it is pretty noisy, not "I can't hear myself think" kind of noisy, but if it sits next to someone all day and gets heavily used, they will find it annoying. Second, our printers power supply shut down a week ago (about 4-5 weeks after we purchased it) and we are hoping to see a technician with a replacement part today. So we have been without the use of this printer for a week. Luckily we had a couple little inkjets scattered throughout the office that allowed us to get by.Finally, be careful when you order, because this item did not include the 250 sheet paper tray. I caught this just as I was about to order and added the paper tray for another $100 or so. Pretty stupid to sell it without it (considering that it is intended for an office environment), but that is how it is marketed.

Makes scary noises
I am impressed with the print quality and the features. I have only two complaints: (1) The software installation is horrendous. Instead of using the normal windows installer, HP had to write their own cludgy dohickey. It almost never can find the printer on the network the first time (even if you can ping and load the HTTP interface), requires a reboot, and takes forever farting around doing who-knows-what. Printer driver software should not take 40 minutes to install. (2) It makes startling and disturbing noises. After printing, about 2-3 minutes later when it is nice and quiet, it lets out a gasp like someone who is startled in fright. Also, 3-4 times a day it runs through the initialization process and spends a good 3-4 minutes clattering around noisily. Then a little later it gasps in fright again. This device is not for the jumpy consumer. Combines poorly with heavy caffeine intake.

Disappointing print quality, sleazy cartridge expiration
I bought the printer because I read reviews saying that it had excellent print quality. The fact that it was supposed to be noisy and slow was ok, since I don't print high volumes and the price of the printer is very good for a network color laser.I found the print quality to be disappointing, however. It's better than an inkjet but not nearly as sharp as a monochrome laser. I can't tell whether it's worse than comparable color lasers--it's just not as good as I expected.The thing that really ticked me off is that the cartridges expire after a set number of pages even if there's ink left in them. At $600 for a replacement set of cartridges, this sleazy trick can make a sizeable difference in operating cost. The effect is even worse when you get an error with a stream of mis-printed pages with just a couple of characters on each page. Better be around the printer to make sure there's no error that spews out 50 pages of gibberish (there goes $10). I hope...
